The impossible life

So this last week my husband had this bizzare experience with an unknown neighbour. When he told me about it, I was upset but then he found a way to chanel the event into an article which I found deeply inspiring. Sometimes life throws unexpected things at us. How we chose to see and interprete it, that's what really matters. Original blog post found here: https://sooahinc.com/the-impossible-life/ On the morning of August 29th, I woke up a bit late and hurried to get to work. Before I left home, I opened my bible and read Romans chapter 12. After my quiet time, I kissed my wife on the forehead and departed for work. The first thing I saw when I got outside, was that my car tires had been booted/locked by the car towing company. This is usually done when someone parks without a parking permit. The consequence is a $95 fine to get the car unlocked. Immediately I saw this, my heart swelled with unhealthy unhappiness (putting it very mildly).  A notice had been left on my c...

Our trip to Cascade

So last weekend Babe and I took another trip, this time to a different side of the state about two hours away. His office organizes a staff retreat yearly and this would be his second time of participating since he joined the university three years ago. He couldn’t attend last year because he was pursuing me 😝 travelling all the way during summer to see me. Anyway,, this time we were given a lovely cabin to share with two other couples without children. Usually, staff who come with their entire families have bigger spaces. However couples like us had to share. It wasn’t bad at all except it was a retreat so certain inconveniences are expected. For example, we had to come with our blankets and pillows, which we forgot to bring by the way because we hurriedly packed up. And then bath soaps were unavailable. We stayed at this humble homestead in the Nazarene Camp The first night and second mornings were incredibly warm and we had no AC in the room. However the hall of meeting wa...

My weekend at Kennewick, WA

Last weekend, husband and I decided to take a road trip up the pacific time zone. It was amazing to see how time changed after just 2 hours as we left Boise. I thought it was a rather beautiful road trip with not much to see except beautiful canyons, large scale agricultural farmlands and super tall trees. We started out at 2 pm excited and soon became sleepy after a while. Miles away from Boise When we arrived, a familiy who had volunteered to host our stay for free, welcomed us. They are parents of one of my husband's friends. We got talking and the old couples were quite chatty. we had some iced tea and were shown our room. A very very beautiful room. I would know because these folks are owners of hotels spread across town so its no wonder their home was like a five star lodging. The home of our gracious hosts overlooks a beautiful expanse of land/golf course Anyway, we got changed and dressed up for the wedding we came for, and headed out. After a little bit of try...

Dare to cross the line

Image
This is the story of Ayesha, a young christian immigrant who dared to cross the lines of her continent. In 2016, AYesha met her now husband through a mutual friend and thus began a long and beautiful journey that led to their marriage. During this time, neither herself nor her husband had a long term visa or permit to stay in the USA. He (her husband) had moved to the States for study and afterwards,  begun to search for opportunities while still furthering his studies. This was the period that the new government under the leadership of Donald Trump was elected. Things got scary and difficult for the new couple. Ayesha was still in her home country. In fact her husband had just started thinking of marrying her. Many people told him he was shooting himself in the foot. He didn’t have a permanent staying visa. He just got a H1b which was just as well as if he was clearly not supposed to be in the country. The proper and “wise” thing to do, according to his friends was to get marrie...
